I get the prompt in PowerPoint that I need to ‘upgrade Office to unlock usage’, despite having a supported Microsoft Office version

If you cannot access some of the ‘direct from PowerPoint functionalities’ (e.g. inserting slides directly into the active presentation), and you know that your company only allow access to Microsoft Office through Citrix servers, it is likely that the firewall settings of the server has prevented the normal usage.

Your Citrix admin would have to double check that SlideHub URL ( https://ppt.slidehub.io and (and the /* subpages), ideally also https://app.slidehub.io) within the Citrix configuration is whitelisted.

Without changing the firewall settings, Citrix could cause a redirect away from PowerPoint and into the browser when users try to access SlideHub from PowerPoint.
