How to scan for potential placeholders based on slide content and existing identifiers
If you are interested in setting up placeholder identifiers we first recommend to read our article about how dynamic content placeholders work for PowerPoint.
In this article we will show you how to scan all your slides within your library for potential placeholder identifiers.
During file upload, as part of the file validation process, the platform will scan for any text in the slide that is marked with square brackets [ ] and you can choose to either link/unlink it with existing placeholder identifiers or create new placeholder identifiers directly.
For new placeholder identifiers that are not in the library:

For placeholder identifiers that already exist in the library:

Convert a text in the existing slide content to a placeholder
2.1) Go to manage view and click on ‘Placeholders’ tab. Here you can see an overview of all the placeholder identifiers in the library. Click on ‘Create new’ to create a new placeholder identifier.

2.2) Input the identifier name and click on ‘Create & scan’. Note that you would have to use the exact text as appeared in the slide. In this example, we would like to convert the text ‘project’ on the slide into a dynamic placeholder.

Existing slide in the library:

2.3) The platform will scan all the existing slides and see if any slide contain the word ‘project’. If one slide contains multiple mentioning of the same word, they will also be picked up.

2.4) Click on the relevant placeholder identifier(s) and click on ‘Confirm’.

2.5) Click on ‘Done & Go to overview’. You will see the existing slide has been modified and the square brackets are added for the placeholder identifier.

If you would like to scan for placeholder identifiers that already exist in your library:
Go to Placeholders in Manage view

Select the placeholder you want to scan for, then click the magnifying glass icon to search for potential slides that aren't already linked to it.
The scan results will appear here. Click on the placeholder identifier box, then click 'Confirm' to link the slide to the placeholder.

That’s it! The placeholders identifiers have now been updated in the existing slides and are ready to be used without having to re-upload the slides.
